About me

最初のきものは「海老天」を染めたものでした。当時独り暮らしの下宿生だった私にとって、大学休みに久しぶりの実家で見た海老天の揚がる様子は特別でハレのできごとでした。衣を纏った海老がジュワッと揚がる音や、はねる熱い油、その彩り、匂い、そんな事にワクワクしました。これまで金魚のテーマや、物語をイメージしたものなども制作しています。蓮の葉(から水がはじかれながらパラパラ落ちてゆく様子)、(真っ白に洗濯できた) シャツ、(中に色々な生活が見える)スーパーのレジ袋、(衣類をしまう)段ボール、のりまき柄なども表現しました。きものは、そのかたちだけで関心をもって観ていただけるものと思います。それはまるでスピーカーのような役割のようです。「ワクワクするようなこんな体験があったよ!」と模様にすると、きものはそれを何倍もの大きな音で流してくれるので、通りすがりの方まで気づいてもらえると思うのです。

The theme of the first kimonolever dyed was"Prawn Tempura". I was a student living alone in digs at the time,

and when l went back to visit my family home again after many months' absence,

the sight of a prawn deep-frying in oil felt an almost auspicious event for me.

I was flooded with excitement by the experience of that sharp Sizzle as the batter-Coated prawn was

dunked in the oil, by the hot oil leaping in the pan, the color and the smell.

To date, I've worked with themes such as goldfish and images from stories.

I've also used themes of lotus leaves (with a patter of water drops flung from them), a shirt (washed brilliant white), plastic

supermarket bags (with various lifestyles visible in their contents), a cardboard box (filled with clothes),

and a seaweed-wrap sushi design.

This work has arole somehow similar to aloud speaker - when l express in terms of design my experience of delight and excitement at something("Hey, this is really fun!"),

I feel as if the kimono amplifies it many times Over and announces it loud and clear

so that even passersby will recognize it.
